This really should be like a ‘Letterman’s top ten list!’ But I’m going to start at number one.

# 1. Do you ever do sexual massages?
No. Fear not! …Or disappointing news for some, I won’t be reaching for your genitals! The service I provide is NON-sexual professional massage.

# 2. Am I going to be naked during the massage? (Meaning you)
Depends on what you are comfortable with. Whether you’re more comfortable partially clothed, or in your birthday suit, it is up to you. While getting ready to jump on the table, I won’t be in the room. Two towels of different sizes will be previously laid out for you to choose from, there will be a bath sheet which will cover you entirely and keep you toasty warm or a regular sized towel if you think you’ll be warm enough. I have no problem with nudity so you have the option of skipping the towel draping all together if you so wish, as long as you are still respecting that it is a NON sexual massage. I will drape a towel after each side of the body is massaged to blot the oil.

#3. Will YOU be naked for the massage? (Meaning me)
No. There is no reason or need for me to be naked while massaging, as much as you can think of reasons for it… It’s not going to happen.

#4. What if I get an erection? (meaning the client)
Relax. Or you may have already have started relaxing because it’s natural to get an erection during a non-sexual massage. For many guys, an erection is just their body’s natural response to receiving soothing, nurturing and sensual touch. There was a whole section in massage school about it being a parasympathetic response to being massaged. Similar to nocturnal erections during sleep patterns you may have heard about. I understand this, and will comfortably continue with a professional massage session. An extra folded towel can be requested.

#5. What can I expect from your home clinic?
You can expect a professional non-sexual massage service. I have high quality massage equipment. I use a Hydraulic Massage Table to lift and lower you back to ground level making it easier to get on and off the table. There’s No queues and no waiting room. I will be the only one doing the massages and all of your details and health history will be kept confidential.

#6. What parts of my body will be massaged?
On your first visit you will need to fill out a brief health history form. Included in this form are sections of muscle groups in a checklist. Tick the boxes of the body parts you would like included in the massage and leave blank the parts of the body you would like to skip. You will not need to give reasons for skipping sections and can ask for your form to be updated at any time. Also let me know if you would like me to spend more time on your favourite or attention seeking muscles.

#7. When should I not get a massage?
Do not get a massage if you are ill or have intentions of exercising (such as running or lifting weights) later that day. When you are sick, massage will intensify the rate of which you experience symptoms. For example: Unleashing the floodgates of your cold or flu, you will get better sooner but you will most likely feel like your dying in the process. It is always best to let your body deal with illness at its own pace. After a massage in regards to exercise, your muscles will be relaxed and you will be more prone to injury. Skip the gym or go before your massage then get a good nights sleep to get the full benefits of the massage.

#8. What types/styles of massage do you do?
Check out the ”Remedial Massage” section of this website for full details.

#9. Can I talk during a massage?
You sure can. Anything you feel like talking about go right ahead. Especially if the pressure is too much or not enough in some spots, if you get too hot or cold, all of which is easily varied in seconds and will make your massage all the better. So please dont hesitate to ask for changes. You also may find I that I don’t talk continuously or start conversations during a massage just so you can just focus on relaxing.

#10. Will a massage hurt?
That depends on the type of massage, your pain threshold and the depth of the strokes. A light massage that doesn’t go very deep into muscles shouldn’t hurt. At the same time, the light massage won’t be able to work out any stress that’s deep within those muscles. Light relaxation massage does however give your mind a break and allows you to unwind. A muscle that is relaxed will be supple and soft and won’t hurt when rubbed. Muscles that are tight, and in many cases have been chronically tight for a long time, may have that “good hurt” feeling with a deeper massage. Think of that “good hurt” similar to the feeling you get when you stretch a sore muscle during exercise. Muscles can be very sore from overuse or tightness from stress, and that good hurt can become painful. A sharp increasing pain may indicate a muscle that has been injured and has some sort of inflammation. Rubbing something that’s inflamed will only cause further inflammation. In this case, you wouldn’t want the deep work to continue directly on this area. However working on the surrounding muscles will share the benefits of massage to the injured site. Bringing much needed oxygen and nutrients with an increase in circulation to the area. A deep massage with tight muscles may leave some residual soreness the next day, to which gentle stretching is always beneficial.

#11. What if I’m overweight, have back hair, or embarrassed about my body?
I have heard more than a fair few times people saying they would get a massage if they lost weight first or didn’t have that cellulite concerning them. Don’t let this stop you. It doesn’t bother me, don’t let it bother you. You’re denying yourself the experience. Body hair is never a problem. I have and use a massage balm that glides over without tugging on hair. I have found massage to be a wonderful gift to give to men and women alike, regardless of age or body type.

#12. How often should I get a massage?
Treat massages like getting your car serviced… Only we are talking about your body as your car in this metaphor. So you get your car serviced say every 10 thousand clicks? Your body should be the same. Get a tune up based on how much you’re ‘travelling’ using your body physically and emotionally. Some clients reserve the same time and day with me every week. How much stress do you face on a daily or weekly basis? Get it balanced out, whether that be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or whichever you choose… If you neglect your car you could always get a new one!

#13. Where do I put my Arms?
When your laying face down on my massage table and I’m working on your back and shoulders, it’s best to have your arms beside you on the table so your shoulder blade muscles are able to relax and not be in a stretched position. After some massage, your shoulders relax, your arms then sometimes tend to flop off the table. If this happens, you can simply place your thumbs under your body to anchor your arms down while still allowing your shoulders to relax fully. Otherwise your shoulder muscles start contracting to try and keep your arms on the table. (Which is hard work and not very relaxing.) Once I’m finished with your upper back, you can put your arms wherever comfortable. There is an arm rest above your head in which you can alternate between positions. The ‘thumb tucking’ arms-by-your-sides position, also works while facing up and laying on your back.

#14. What is aroma therapy?
Aroma Therapy is the therapeutic use of aromatic plant extracts and essential oils, used to stimulate the nervous system to respond in a desired way, affecting mood or promoting health and well being.

There are oils made to evoke nearly every state of being imaginable. To give you an idea, some oils calm you down, some help you sleep, some invigorate, energize or help with any number of ailments. The point I would like to make with this answer is there will be a choice between aromatherapy or neutral fragrant oils and balms. For example, some people don’t like smelling like flowers if they need to be somewhere after the massage, or others have allergies to particular plant extracts… Allergies and preferences about the types of oil you like are included on the health history form, so it definitely will be discussed prior to the massage beginning.

#15. Best times to book?
Weekdays during office hours I currently have more spaces available for spontaneous desires to get a massage without booking too far in advance, and after normal office hours (after 5pm) I get booked out pretty quickly. As mentioned before, I have clients who book to reserve the same time, and day, every week. Weekends are by advance bookings only. It is a case of first in, best dressed. Booking in advance means making sure I don’t book anyone else within 15-30 minutes of the next client as to allow that extra time for you to take your time getting up after a massage. Some people if they have fallen asleep and I know they have the time, I allow them to nap on the table while I go do something else. As soon as you know a day and time that you might be free, let me know so I can reserve it for you.

#16. How many massages a day do you do?
I limit myself to no more than a maximum of 6 clients a day/night. I feel if I do too many massages, I would wear myself out and alas! The quality of my massages would decrease, doing neither of us a favour. Bottom line: I love doing a good job, if I do anything I like to do it well.

#17. Where’d you go?
Normally after a massage is finished, if I see you are happily enjoying being peaceful or even asleep, I leave the room as quietly as I can to allow you the time and space to get up when you’re ready. I will not return into the room unless a large amount of time has passed and it’s time to wake up. To which I will softly knock and wait for an invitation before entering.

#18. What should I do at home after a massage?
Especially for that day:

Drink water, Stretch, Take it easy!

Drink water because muscles can store toxins which have just been squeezed like a sponge, then releasing the toxins into your blood stream. ‘Knots’ especially lock out blood supply, depraving the fibers of much needed oxygen and nutrients causing a toxic build up which I would be releasing by using massage techniques. Blood supply returns to the area and starts feeding, oxygenating and cleaning up the damaged tissue immediately, which is why trigger points have that instant “Ouch!- Oh that’s nice!” feeling when being worked on. The toxins need a way out. Depending on the person, if you are not fully hydrated the toxins commonly tend to build causing headaches or nausea. Normally by the next day when you wake up with a headache and/or feeling nauseated. All of which can be avoided if you flush them out simply by drinking plenty of water and relaxing.

Do not exercise, go jogging or lift weights until you have had a nights worth of sleep. Your body will be in a “rest and digest” mode which means exactly that, your body is resting and digesting food, it’s closed for maintenance, a beautiful space massage has convinced your nervous system it’s a good time to heal. Allow your body to do so. Once you have slept your body would have completed the checklist of the changes made during a massage and then feel free to exercise as normal and include plenty of stretches, especially in the ‘cool down’ part of your work out.`

#19. What is a Zen Chi Machine?
Do you suffer from lack of exercise, stress, back pain, poor circulation, nervous tension or If you are a woman; menstrual pain? If so, the Zen Chi Device can help alleviate the symptoms of these ailments.

It produces a motion through the recumbent body, similar to a swimming fish. This side-to-side motion opens the vertebrae, alleviating stress and tension on the spinal column. Just 5 to 15 minutes a session will improve energy levels and create an overwhelming sensation of well being.

The unique wave-like motion replicates exercise and promotes the flow of blood to capillary banks in all extremities of the body, restoring supply to areas that may have suffered poor circulation. Body detoxification is improved via enhanced lymphatic circulation and abdominal peristalsis, which results in a higher metabolic rate. The sensation is amazingly unique and I find its great just before your massage. If you would like to try this device before your massage just let me know when making your booking and I will have it ready to use for when you arrive.

#20. Do you have EFTPOS or Credit Card facilities?
EFTPOS facilities are NOW avaliable! I accept VISA, Mastercard and Eftpos. If you like using cash, please also help out with the correct amount, that would be greatly appreciated as I sometimes get cleaned out of change.
